Nick Varrecchio has a long-standing commitment to the City of New Orleans through active participation in civic, business, educational and religious organizations throughout our region for almost three decades. He has built a reputation as a strong voice for reform in public education, crime prevention, and good government in our city.

  • Managed large numbers of employees as a manager of the Loew’s State movie theatre
  • Mobilized large numbers of volunteers in civic groups and organizations

PERSONAL

The oldest of Dominic Varrecchio and Kathleen O’Reilly’s four children, he and his family were raised in the St. Roch Park area of the Eighth Ward, and he attended public schools including Gayarre Elementary, Colton Jr. High, and John F. Kennedy High School.

Nick worked his way through college at Southeastern Louisiana University by working as a as a bailiff and sheriff’s deputy in criminal court, a theatre manager, and as a longshoreman. He earned a scholarship to the Tulane School of Law, and then served as a law clerk for Criminal Court Judge Israel Augustine, and assisted the prosecution of serious criminal trials with the District Attorney’s office.

He is married to the former Kelley Ann Kieffer, and they have two young daughters, Rachel and Kaitlin.
