The office of the Clerk of Criminal District Court is vital to the function of our criminal justice system. Prosucuters depend on the evidence and records that are in the custody of the Clerk’s office to conduct trials and keep criminals off the streets.

Every election in Orleans Parish is conducted by the Clerk’s office. The Clerk of Criminal District Court must hire and train election comissioners, manage the transport and custody of voting machines, and ensure the proper tabulation of votes.

The failings of the incumbent Clerk of Court are well noted and never seem to avoid the headlines. It is time for us as a community to demand a better performance.

I am the reform candidate for this dysfunctional office. I understand that a safe, vibrant New Orleans depends on the integrity its courts and on the voting rights of every citizen.

Please help me in my campaign to reform this important office. Please click on the donate button below. All donations, no matter how big or small, are needed and are welcome.

  2. Dear Mr. Varrecchio:

If you want election reform, we need to start with high school student elections. Do you know that schools do not give the results of class and student council elections? Saying “Joe (or Sue) won,” is not giving the actual results because they do not give the numbers.

Also, in high schools that is where we can get real reform with instant runoff voting for a majority in one election every time. If Louisiana and New Orleans used IRV, we would not have December runoffs for congressional races. If you look at IRV at the above website you will be excited. Call me at 835-7246 to discuss your contribution.
